Don't miss Steve Backshall's DEADLY 60 LIVE! at Her Majesty's Theatre from 11 - 12 January. It promises to be "weird, wild and wonderful". In his first ever Australian tour, Steve will take audiences on the adventure of a life time telling the stories and showing us footage from his most famous expeditions and answering your questions about the making of his popular BBC Earth series.
Naturalist Steve Backshall is best known for a children's TV show DEADLY 60, in which he tracks down the world's most dangerous animals. He's swum with sharks, been bitten by a caiman and come face to face with some of the most venomous snakes on the planet.
From the Arctic to the Antarctic, from the tundra to the top of the world's highest peaks, and from the depths of the rainforest to the bottom of the sea, this wonderful event is suitable for fans of the TV series as well as wildlife enthusiasts of all ages from 5 to 80.
Steve is an author, expedition leader, naturalist, wildlife expert and a fearless presenter. Having travelled the world to learn about the most inspiring predators, Steve has been squirted with ink by Humboldt squid, flirted with by tarantula, charged by elephants, and stared out by thresher and great hammerhead sharks, but still maintains that wild animals pose no threat to people - in fact quite the opposite.
Steve has been passionate about the wild world ever since he could crawl, and, growing up, counted as his best pals the animals that lived around him - from the asthmatic donkey, to the grass snakes in the manure heap! After graduating from Exeter University in England, Steve studied martial arts in Japan, attaining his black belt. Over the following years, Steve wrote for the Indonesian Rough Guides and, during his travels, became conversant in the local language, drank blood with un-contacted tribes, nearly got caught in fatal crossfire in riots in East Timor, came nose to nose with Komodo Dragons, and attempted to walk solo across Irian Jaya (a woeful failure)!
Adelaide Festival Centre CEO & Artistic Director Douglas Gautier says, "Adelaide Festival Centre has a long history of supporting outstanding family entertainment and we're delighted to present DEADLY 60 LIVE and The Tiger Who Came To Tea for South Australian audiences to enjoy during the summer school holiday break. These shows pre-empt another big year of family entertainment at the Festival Centre. Later in the year, Cats is set to be a family favourite, followed by South Australia's Patch Theatre Company's The Moon's a Balloon and the launch of our perennially popular Something on Saturday."
DEADLY 60 can be seen Mondays-Saturdays at 8.00pm and weekends at 3.00pm on ABC3.
