Scholarship Applications Are Open For The Nathaniel O'Brien Class Of Cabaret ImageTalented students from regional and outer metropolitan South Australia are encouraged to apply for Adelaide Festival Centre's Nathaniel O'Brien Class of Cabaret Scholarship.

The scholarship honours Nathaniel O'Brien, a former Class of Cabaret and Class of Cabaret Graduates participant who passed away in a car accident in 2015. This year's scholarship is valued up to $5000 and will be offered to a student currently in Year 10 or 11. The recipient will receive entry into the 2019 Class of Cabaret program including travel and accommodation to attend rehearsals and private vocal tuition in Adelaide next year.

Class of Cabaret gives talented young vocalists the opportunity to perform at the world's premier cabaret festival and learn from the country's best cabaret stars. Students can also gain SACE credits with the support of Adelaide Festival Centre's CentreED program.

Last year's scholarship winner was Port Lincoln student Tascha Jordison who performed at this year's Adelaide Cabaret Festival in June: "Winning the Nathaniel O'Brien Class of Cabaret Scholarship opened up so many wonderful opportunities and expanded my knowledge of the cabaret world. Being mentored by some of Australia's most successful cabaret artists and performing amongst world-class acts has been inspiring. I have loved sharing the experience with other passionate and talented peers."

Adelaide Festival Centre CEO & Artistic Director, Douglas Gautier: "We are delighted to once again offer the Nathaniel O'Brien Class of Cabaret Scholarship and look forward to discovering and nurturing young performers from rural and outer metropolitan areas of South Australia. For the first time the program is sponsored by the Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation which continues to provide exceptional training opportunities for children who wish to pursue a future in the arts."

Applications for the scholarship close 5pm Sunday, 30 September 2018.
