Nexus Arts, the centre of inclusive, culturally diverse arts in Adelaide, will host the inaugural Nexus Arts Fundraising Gala on Saturday the 29th of October 2016.
The night will showcase a selection of South Australia's most exciting and important performers and will be hosted by spoken word poet and performer Manal Younus.
Performances on the night will include one of South Australia's leading Aboriginal singer/songwriters and Nexus Creative Pathways artist Ellie Lovegrove, Sufi Soul's soothing music from Pakistan and Northern India, and a one time remount of the 2014 Nexus Live commission Until the Dust Settles featuring renowned tabla player Jay Dagbar, jazz master Adam Page and electronic music sensation Oisima.
The Nexus Gallery will be open so audiences can experience the Nexus Arts and OzAsia exhibition Divine Interventions featuring new works by artists Damien Shen, who is a South Australian man of Ngarrindjeri and Chinese bloodlines, and Badiucao who is one of the most prolific artists and political cartoonists in China.
An auction of artworks by past Nexus Studio Residency artists will include ceramics byJordan Gower, textiles by Lilly Buttrose, paintings by Nazia Ejaz and drawing works by Jelena Vujnovic.
Executive Director Louise Dunn says: "Nexus Arts is the driving force for contemporary culturally diverse arts practice in SA, presenting artists, commissioning new works, engaging communities, and providing support at all levels of artists' development. Nexus needs support to continue to grow our programs and engage with more artists and communities and this event will not only be a great evening of entertainment but provide opportunity for audiences to learn more about Nexus, and raise valuable funds to continue our work."
Doors open at 8pm with welcoming drinks on arrival.
Tickets are $45 and all proceeds go towards Nexus Arts programs.
