The World premiere production of #nofilter continues the Adelaide Fringe Festival season at My Friend Louis. March 4 - 6, 2016

This experience constructed Directed and Choreographed by Dannielle Candida.

#nofilter examines elements of mental illness in a setting likened to that of the backstage of a travelling circus.

Vee, the circuses contortionist ballerina has long watched over this band of circus misfits, seemingly powerless to challenge the pursuits of its Ringmaster. Having long battled to shrug the shroud of depression that eventually drowns her. Consumed by the darkness after losing his partner and young son, Ringmaster Raven covets Pandora's Box. He seeks to cast his shadows on the vulnerable and isolated. In stark contrast, Hope lingers; he stands resolute amidst the chaos the Ringmaster promises to bestow. Velvet, an intersex sex worker under the circuses employ hides a family secret pertaining to a hereditary condition that has rendered her mother incapacitated within a hospice. Her partner a drug addicted Trans man seeks to express his gender neutrality in a world he feels he's never been heard in. The Ringmasters pseudo son grew up in domestic violence and was not able to break the cycle. Longing for his Masters approval this character sacrifices not only his self in the search for the validation he yearns. A Marionette is thrust upon the circus scene and settles within her place as she seeks refuge from the lack of control and personal satisfaction she feels. The powerful soundtrack to this performance is accompanied by the vocals of Samantha, whom also creates a living hell for character Velvet. RAAF War Veteran, old friend of the Ringmaster plays a carny hand. He twists within the confines of his quarters as PTSD rears its ugly head; he resolves to express himself as he struggles to live with it.

Dannielle Candida's inaugural production as Writer, Director, Choreographer and Producer. Stepping out from the Adelaide Burlesque scene with this challenging and thought provoking work. "I need to express my deepest gratitude to our sponsors, I've been humbled by the volume of support for this project from even complete strangers". Best described as alternative, her previous works and concepts have long deserved the opportunity to be staged in this grand scale.
