To celebrate its 40th anniversary and the true joy of multiculturalism in SA, Carnevale, Adelaide's own Italian Festival, is pleased to be showcasing other cultural groups on its specially created MULTICULTURAL SATURDAY.
Dance is the main theme and several energetic ensembles are represented. On the Main Stage in Piazza Jubilee, one can delight in the traditional movements of Macedonian Dancers and a little later the Burundian Drummers' Club will pulsate with African rhythms.
As well, the sights and sounds of South America will be represented with the girls from Danca Brazil Entertainment donning their ostrich plumes and popular dancing duo, Southern Cross Tango.
The sub-continent is not forgotten with the vibrant Kalalya-Indian Dancers. Bollywood comes to Italy via Australia!
Making its debut at Carnevale is the acclaimed choir Umbrella a Cappella with its Renaissance and Aussie/Multicultural Shows. The choir can also be enjoyed as it busks, entertaining the vast crowds in an informal fashion.
Naturally home-grown talent is out in force with traditional Calabrese dancers - La Famiglia d'Aspromonte, the Traditional Trio and a Carnevale institution, La Taccarata.
There are also Italian songbirds with Italcanti, Allegria, Daniela Fontanarosa, Michela Capriccioni, and from The Voice, appearing for the first time at Carnevale, Annaleese Fuda.
MULTICULTURAL SATURDAY promises to be colourful and diverse day of entertainment, celebrating what is great and enduring in this wonderful country of ours.
