John Thorn Makes La Boheme Debut in BACKGROUND BOY Image

Award winning composer/singer/pianist extraordinaire John Thorn makes his La Boheme debut with his acclaimed original one man show BACKGROUND BOY. Well known in Adelaide from his work backing Meow Meow, Bob Downe, Caroline Nin (and nearly every other cabaret star) John finally has his turn in the spotlight with this sublime collection of original songs ranging from the witty (Lower Your Expectations) to the exposing (Things I Should Have Said).

His songs echo the tradition of Randy Newman and Hoagy Carmichael, Johnny Mercer and Blossom Dearie including selections from his celebrated Henry Lawson song cycle LOOKING FOR LAWSON that Barry Humphries has described as "miraculous".

"Sings well, writes great songs and lyrics. John McBeath," ADELAIDE ADVERTISER

"Renowned in Adelaide as an excellent pianist and accompanist he has reinforced his position as a songwriter and singer with this wonderful performance." Barry Lenny, BROADWAY WORLD

Thursday January 11 at 7.30 pm, La Boheme, 36 Grote St Adelaide $25/$20.
