UATG Theatre presents LETTICE AND LOVAGE by Peter Shaffer, directed by Angela Short, playing the Little Theatre, The Cloisters, University of Adelaide, Wed-Sat 4-7 & 11-14 October 2017 at 7.30pm.

"Enlarge! Enliven! Enlighten!" Miss Lettice Douffet is an enthusiastic (or some might say eccentric) tour guide at Fustian House, one of the dullest stately homes in Wiltshire. To brighten her tours, she embellishes the history of the house reinventing the truth to such an extent that her flights of fancy almost rival its flight of stairs and certainly raise the concerns of The Preservation Trust. Enter Miss Lotte Schoen, who is tasked with bringing her back down to earth.

Seemingly polar opposite women, when they discover they have a shared passion for history, particularly re-enacting the deaths of famous women, an unlikely friendship develops. With Lettice bringing her late mother's theatrical flair and family motto to everything she does, could it be that, like adding the herb lovage to enhance bland flavours, she could have the same effect on Miss Schoen?

Chalk and cheese. Oil and water. Lettice and Lovage.

Director Angela Short says "Lettice and Lovage is a play I've always wanted to direct having seen it back in the 90s with Maggie Smith and Margaret Tyzack. With Tracey Walker as Lettice and Sharon Malujlo as Lottie embracing the deliciously rich language, it is a delight to relish and savour, and the intimacy and ambiance of the Little Theatre is perfect for this production."

Written by the playwright of Amadeus, Equus and Royal Hunt of the Sun, Lettice and Lovage is both hilarious and touching and is guaranteed to make you laugh!

Starring Anita Canala, Sharon Malujlo, Jack Robins and Tracey Walker.
