Dita Von Teese Adds Second Performance at Adelaide Cabaret Festival

Dita Von Teese is the world's most famous burlesque star and will be making her Adelaide debut in Strip, Strip Hooray on Monday 13 June in the Festival Theatre. From the moment Adelaide Cabaret Festival was on sale Dita clearly became the 'hot ticket' to secure and her show sold out in the first week! With such an overwhelming response, Adelaide Cabaret Festival is excited to announce an additional show of Strip, Strip, Hooray on Thursday 23 June at 7.30pm in the Festival Theatre. Tickets for this show will go on sale on Friday 13 May.

Strip, Strip, Hooray is a 90 minute spectacle of Dita Von Teese' most impressive work where she will be joined on stage by "the hardest working middle-aged man in show business", MC Murray Hill, along with a cast of Dita's favourite burlesque acts from around the globe.

Co-Artistic Director Ali McGregor says "We couldn't be more thrilled to be presenting another Dita Von Teese show in Adelaide". Dita is the consummate performer and is in a class of her own, the queen of burlesque, she is glamour personified. With a beautiful and lavish set, get ready to be teased Adelaide and get in early so you don't miss this once in a lifetime experience! "

Proudly presented by Adelaide Festival Centre, the 2016 Adelaide Cabaret Festival program features more than 425 Artists in 150 performances over 16 days and nights. There are 42 international artists from as far afield as the United States, Ireland, United Kingdom and Germany as well as the best from Australia with over 383 Australian artists including 182 from South Australia. The 2016 Festival showcases six world premieres, eight Australian premieres, 35 Adelaide premieres as well as 13 Adelaide exclusives. The vibrant program also features 11 international shows.

Demonstrating Adelaide's fondness for all things Cabaret ticket sales are up 11% compared to the same time last year but with great seats still available for a number of shows.

Adelaide Cabaret Festival kicks off on the Queen's Birthday long weekend on 10 June and apart from Her Majesty's Theatre all other venues are at the Festival Centre and within a short distance of each other which means you can see multiple shows in one night. Average ticket price has been kept low to allow everyone to be able to see their favourites and discover new ones over the 16 days and nights.

Immerse yourself in Burlesque this year with Dita at the start of the festival and The Birds in the final week. Led by Finucane & Smith The Birds is a seductive and provocative experience you won't want to miss. Think Edgar Allen Poe meets late night Paris, a gothic, erotic, airborne variety show!

There are also plenty of free events and food and drink to enjoy in and around the shows with friends. Every night in the Piano Bar enjoy a variety of free cabaret entertainment hosted by piano-man extraordinaire Trevor Jones. Stay in the Piano Bar for Late Night DJs every Friday and Saturday night from 11.30pm as well as Sunday night of the opening weekend. And throughout the Festival there will be a plethora of great local musicians taking part in Bands in the Wintergarden.

Other free events during the Festival include the Songwriter Series, which will see creative minds of Cabaret and musical theatre composer's show-and-tell how they get their creative juices flowing guided by co-Artistic Director Eddie Perfect. Award-winning international composer and sought after musical director Lance Horne will share his industry insights and experiences in an Insights Workshop. Still want to know what's inside a song or a story? Join Eddie Perfect, Ali McGregor, Barb Jungr and Reg Livermore on stage as they swap Art Stories and reflect on moments that led to their success, hosted by theatre director Chris Drummond.

$10 Movie nights is a Festival first and the films will be introduced by the stars themselves: Betty Blokk Buster Follies introduced by the Cabaret Icon Award Winner Reg Livermore; Michelle Ryan introducing her inspirational story of dance and disability Michelle's Story; Ms Lisa Fischer will introduce the Oscar winning documentary 20 Feet from Stardom, and David Bowie's cult hit Labyrinth will be introduced by Sven Ratzke.

Make Cabaret a true dining experience and attend the Cabaret Dinner hosted by Eddie Perfect. This is high culinary art paired with high-kicking entertainment. This year's dinner features a menu designed by Adelaide's renowned father and son chefs Peter and Chris Jarmer, a generational gustation matched with wines from Barossa Valley favourite Grant Burge.

Another popular event is The Backstage Club, variety personified where Cabaret's elite collaborate and celebrate, expect the unexpected! Hosted by Amy G and Miss Behave, Jan van de Stool and Libby O'Donovan.
