Ever wanted to be on Stage, but don't know where to begin? Co-Opera's free Opera Factory Workshops at Port Adelaide could be your key to stardom and success, or you might just have some fun!
The free workshops, presented by professional artists, under the auspices of the renowned opera company Co-Opera will run from 26-29 April at the Flour Shed, Harts Mill Complex, Mundy Street, Port Adelaide.
The workshops, covering Singing, Acting, Instrumental and Dance are funded jointly by the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and Renewal SA. The workshops are open to all with preference given to residents in the Port Adelaide Enfield Council area.

Take your singing in the shower to the world in Find your Voice presented by operatic soprano Sidonie Henbest.
This workshop is aimed at people of all levels who like singing and who would like to develop their vocal abilities. The workshops promises to be an inclusive, educational and enjoyable process for all participants and you may even get to sing in an opera chorus.
Sidonie Henbest is a member of the State Opera of SA and most recently performed in the Adelaide Festival smash hit Saul at the Festival Theatre. She has also appeared with Co-Opera since 2015 and performed extensively as a cabaret and concert artist.

Acting Workshops with Nicholas Cannon
Acting Workshops with Nicholas Cannon. You may not recognise Nick's name but as a theatre lover you've seen him in a multitude of roles, from Shakespeare to opera.
Nick studied at the School Jacques Lecoq and Berty Tovias in Barcelona and Paris and has a Performing Arts Music Theatre Degree from the Western Academy of Performing Arts as well as a theatre cv as long as your arm.
What to expect from your Acting Workshop? This will involve lots of movement, assisting you find your theatrical physicality and body awareness, creating characters, Shakespeare text and the fun of improvisation theatre games to give your little grey cells a workout.
Even if you're not going to be the next Brad Pitt, you'll have fun and learn something about theatre techniques.
Bring water and wear loose clothing for easy movement.

Instrumental Workshops with Linda Pirie
You play an instrument or would like to know more about playing one? Linda Pirie will be your guide.
Flautist Linda Pirie studied overseas and performed with national orchestras as well as the Adelaide Art Orchestra, State Opera of SA and Co-Opera. Linda is also an Australian Music Examination Board examiner and was until recently a Lecturer in Flute at Elder Conservatorium.
Not only will you, as a musician, learn different styles of music including classical, folk and jazz, but those with no musical experience will learn something about being a musician from professional string, wind and percussion musicians.
Bring: your instrument or play the percussion instruments provided. Professional string, wind and percussion musicians will be there to guide you. Bring water to drink, don't forget your instrument, if you have one.

Dance Workshops with Carlie Angel
Dance like no-one's watching? Why not dance like someone is? Carlie Angel is a professional freelance dancer and choreographer and she'll show you how, even if you have two left feet.
Carlie was the top of her class at AC Arts and studied at QUT before joining the Australian Dance Theatre, and TasDance. She performed her sell out children's show Hip Hop the Casio Brothers at the Sydney Opera House and has combined pole dancing, contemporary dance and acrobatic in Pole Cats; a show developed in SA which subsequently toured Australia. Carlie is in much demand as a choreographer and dancer.
This workshop is about moving, coordination, body awareness and rhythm - guaranteed to tap into the inner creative you. Starting with breathing and quickly moving to basic dance including jazz, ballet and hip hop and learning a simple routine.
Bring: water, comfortable clothing, and either specific dance shoes or wear socks.
