Maison De Danse (House of Dance) is premiering in Adelaide at this year's Feast Festival on Friday 23 November 9pm at the Chateau Apollo in an inclusive electronic dance music (EDM) community event ready to excite, inspire and dazzle audiences with its own unique and fun curated program of sublime underground entertainment. Celebrating the 'joie de vivre' of house-ballroom culture, this one night only event is the culmination of a distinctive creative process drawing primarily from Music, Fashion and Dance with influences spanning Design, Digital Technology and Queer Culture as well as the mind-body work of Rudolf Laban.

Supported by the City of Adelaide, Feast Festival and the LWDance Hub, this process has brought together local Adelaide artists including iconic Adelaide musician and performer, the stunning Becky Blake @beckyblake0; alluring freelance dancer and choreographer Ellicia Britton @ellicia_rose; and super talented international dancer/performer Jake Walasek @jake.walasek19 and

Working together with Choreographer, Stylist and Artistic Director Ben-Hur Winter @wani_niyawa (aka Drag Impresario Chic Mystique), the sassy show cast will be performing at the rustic artisan venue together with a stellar line-up of Adelaide DJ Artists.

Jake shares "It's great to be part of the Feast Festival, coming back from overseas and performing not only to a hometown crowd but also being more inclusive and dancing for queer audiences."

Ellicia says "I'm excited to be part of Maison De Danse and to share a slice of South Australia's cultural diversity in an international arts festival environment. It helps put Adelaide on the map while supporting a legacy of community building."

#thestylecollaborative is an eclectic, multi-disciplinary boutique production house developing innovative artistic work and content through diverse stage settings, performative contexts and the corporeal body. Adapted and assimilated from Latin and later Portuguese and Spanish, the word 'Estilo' is Filipino for 'Style'.

Destined for Adelaide's cosmopolitan East End, Maison De Danse will also feature multi-talented and multicultural roving performers, namely Theatre Actor/Educator, Performance Artist and Arts Achiever of the Year (FSCCSA) Valerie Berry @vberry_70 together with Performance Poet, Youth Activist and Dancer Matcho Intrumz Cassidy @intrumz.

There's also live VJ'ing; beauty make-overs; dance instalments and freestylers; along with a voguing showdown for anyone that wants to strut their stuff just for good fun!

Becky affirms that "it's about self-expression through dance, music and creativity while believing in love for love regardless of gender.'

Inspired by Harlem ball culture from New York City in the 1920's where costumes, attitude, dance moves and 'realness' were essential and central themes, Maison De Danse and #thestylecollaborative aim to captivate all electronic dance music lovers and LGBTIQ audiences of all ages as well as their friends and allies.

The formal presentation of the event will commence at 9pm at the Chateau Apollo 74 Frome Road. Adelaide, enter via Roxie?s corner Grenfell Street, Adelaide. Media are welcome to join us!
