Brahms, Bach and Elgar to Close Concerts@Kent Town's 2017 Season

Concerts @ Kent Town, Cnr Fullarton Road and Grenfell Street, Kent Town at 2pm Wednesday 15 November 2017 is closing the season with an outstanding program of music performed by well known musicians Janet Anderson, violinist, Damien Mansfield, piano and John Hall, organ.

Tickets for this final concert are still only $10 available at door and includes a generous afternoon tea.

Adelaide Symphony Orchestra violinist Janet Anderson will perform the Violin Sonata No. 3, Op.108 by Brahms accompanied by pianist Damien Mansfield.

The organ recital will be presented by Flinders Street Baptist Church organist John Hall performing works by Bach, Stanley and Elgar.

About Janet Anderson, Violin: Janet Anderson is an award winning violinist who has been a member of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra since 2007. She studied with Michele Walsh at the Queensland Conservatorium and Professor Gottfried Schneider at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, Germany. In 2005 Janet won the award for the best performance of an Australian Composition in the finals of the Kendall Violin Competition and was a finalist with the Fyra String Quartet in the Australian Chamber Music Competition.

Janet has studied and toured in many countries throughout mthe world including Canada, Europe and Australia. In 2009 she was an Australian Chamber Orchestra Emerging Artist, and was mentored by Aiko Goto and performed with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and ACO2. Janet continues to perform with ASO, ACO2, Leonore String Quartet, Le Monde Ensemble, Kegelstatt Ensemble, Adelaide Chamber Players and Bach 2 Blues, a community ensemble consisting of health professionals, volunteers and mental health patients.

About Damien Mansfield, Piano: Damien Mansfield studied piano with Lance Dossor before receiving further training and experience in accompaniment and chamber music in London, specifically the studios of noted musicians and teachers, including Szymon Goldberg and Geoffrey Parson, and five years in Mayer-Lismann Opera Workshops. He has participated in recitals in the USA IN England, the Netherlands and Canada.

Since resuming active musical work in 2013 after 40 years of medical practice, he has been constantly occupied in work with vocal and instrumental students at the Elder Conservatorium.

About John Hall, Organ: John Hall studied organ with James Govenlock, David Rumsey and Ashleigh Tobin gaining his FTCL and LMusA in organ performance. He has played with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, recorded with the ABC and given several Adelaide Town Hall organ recitals.

John joined the Adelaide Harmony Choir in 1963 as a chorister, in 1967 he became its accompanist and was appointed Conductor in 1981, a position he held until 2007. With the Adelaide Harmony Choir John has provided organ accompaniment for many major works. He has also worked with several of Adelaide's choral societies and massed choirs at numerous major civic functions. He has conducted workshops in the city and country areas on choral singing and organ playing.

John is an accompanist in the University of Adelaide's Music Department as well as teaching music and accompanying students in schools and privately. He is currently organist at Flinders Street Baptist Church in Adelaide.

In 1998 John was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in recognition of his service to music and the Adelaide Harmony Choir.
