I was privileged to be invited to attend the launch of the first Punjabi music video to be made in South Australia. Not only was it the first to be made here, but it also addressed multiculturalism and featured a number of iconic places around Adelaide. BMG Films, in association with Daanveer Productions, invited the Hon. Jing Lee MLC, Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs, to officially launch the video. The owners of Tandoori Hut were the sponsors of the launch, providing a range of thoroughly delicious food, as well as the venue.
Jaggi Randhawa has a superb voice and puts a great deal of emotion into the song, doing it full justice in a wonderful performance. This fine love song has lyrics by Preet Sandhu, and music by Sunny Thind.
The video was produced by Penta Sidhu, of Daanveer Productions, and the director was Manpreet Gill, of BMG Films, who worked on Bollywood films before coming to Australia, with cinematography by David Tang. Choreography was by local Bollywood dancer and choreographer, Francesca Pascale McMillan.
Australian actress and dancer,
Sarika Young, and actor, Vipandeep, play a Punjabi boy and the Australian girl whom he falls for. From a chance encounter they develop a relationship and the film follows their progress. In a supporting role, Alessia Baheera appears just in time to warn the girl that the boy has been denied residency, and she races to the airport, catching him just before his flight. Everybody loves a happy ending.
The technical side of this music video is of extremely high standard, with crystal clear sound, a captivating story line, and marvellous video and editing. It is a credit to all of those involved.
There was also a large team working behind the scenes, of course, including stylist, Angie D'Amato, from D'Amato Designs & Fashion Fever Networking, makeup and hair by Emily Portelli, and makeup artists, Tammy Lee Lewis and Becky Meehl.
This music video can be viewed below! Keep an eye out for more as I have no doubt that this will be only the first of many such works to be made in Adelaide.
