Everyone's favourite 1970's Uncle is back in town for this year's Fringe in his new home at the Tuxedo Cat with Barry Morgan Is Spaced Out. Looking splendid in his brand spanking new gold safari suit, Barry promised to have his Milky Way with us as he charmed the audience with an hour of music and storytelling whilst getting up close and personal with all those there.
Within minutes you feel that you have been invited into Barry's lounge room as his ability to include his entire audience is uncanny. This is, of course, helped by the abundance of velour curtains, his Leslie rotating speakers and, of course, his fabulous Hammond Aurora organ. Look closely and you will even see a tin of Bex and bottle of Campari on hand in case things get a bit wild.
This, however, was a family show and there were quite a few young kiddies in the audience with whom Barry engaged, and he was, of course, more than willing to also engage with their parents as he enlisted the help of a couple of audience members to assist with a costume change mid show, much to the delight of all there.
A night with Barry Morgan is to step back in time to the days of TV dinners and where tinned pineapple could fix everything.
Barry seemed happy to be back in the city of churches and shallow graves, as he likes to call Adelaide, as he led his audience in a Barryoke sing-along and had us guessing tunes as his bejewelled fingers ran across the organ keyboard with style and aplomb.
Make no mistake, this is one talented man who is part musician and part comedian. A highlight of his show is the audience participation and, of course, his one finger method. Barry Morgan is such a lovable character who endears himself to all he meets so make sure that is you. Get out and see this show and support Uncle Barry, you won't be disappointed.
