Award Winning Acrobatic Sensations Head First Return With A 3 Show Season Image

The acclaimed Head First Acrobats are renowned for their world class circus and physical theatre performances - a unique mix of old school slapstick comedy, with new-school death-defying acrobatics. They will present a season of three productions for the 2018 Adelaide Fringe.

From 27 February to 18 March in The Octagon at Gluttony they will present a fully redeveloped version of their multi-award winning international hit, Elixir, a zombie circus spectacle with a potent mix of chemical balance and imbalance, death defiance, old school slapstick and just a dash of Aussie testosterone.

The show follows three bumbling (albeit handsome) scientists who attempt to create the elixir of life. The scientists test their concoctions on themselves, and the madness that breaks loose in the laboratory is the perfect mix of amazing acrobatics, impeccable comic timing and an engrossing narrative.

Head First 's Thomas Gorham said, 'In 2017 Elixir underwent a massive redevelopment with UK production house Underbelly with new lighting design, sound design, costumes and props, and a new director John Walton. We presented the new version in London and opened at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to massive critical success and five-star reviews'.

Elixir won the First and Foremost Entertainment Award in its UK debut at the Brighton Fringe in 2015. The three acrobats in Elixir are all graduates of the National Institute of Circus Arts, a university based in Melbourne where circus performers train and study to receive a Bachelor degree in Circus.

From 2 to 17 March on Friday and Saturday nights at 10.50pm Head First present the premiere of Circus'Cision (or those who made the cut!) a sexy circus cabaret featuring a variety mash-up of international circus superstars, Spiegeltent legends and the hottest acts from the 2018 Adelaide Fringe. A rotating cast of Fringe artists will present their best, weirdest and most hilarious acts supported by the Head First Acrobats. WARNING: Circus'Cision contains full frontal nudity and adult themes.

On weekends from 17 February to 18 March Head First will present Arrr we there yet? a family show featuring a new crew of performers along with many new elements.

Thomas Gorham said, 'Arrr We There Yet? is a rip-roaring and swashbuckling adventure in which Three Sailors hit the high seas in search of treasure. These acrobatic pirates turn ship life upside down as walking the plank becomes a high flying teeter-board and steering the ship through a storm takes place on a mesmerising cyr wheel'.

Head First Acrobats are:

Thomas Gorham - Generalist acrobat with a background in breakdance. Performing washington trapeze, hand balancing, hoop diving, teeter-board and hand to hand (flyer).

Cal Harris - World class street performer turned contemporary circus artist. Rocking stages around the world on the ladder, as well as performing acrobatics, hand balancing, teeterboard and hand to hand (base).

Rowan Thomas - Known worldwide for his unique style on the cyr wheel, as well as his amazing technicality as a cyr artist. Rowan is a mesmerising performer with a natural talent for comedy. A hard working acrobat and clown, Rowan's personality shines vibrantly on stages around the globe.
