The 80-piece Adelaide Youth Orchestra will complete its 2013 Maestro Concert Series with a must see performance at Elder Hall on Sunday September 22 of works by some of history's finest composers - including 19th century music masters Tchaikovsky and Kalliwoda and the late Richard Meale (1932-2009) - an award-winning Australian composer.
The Maestro Series 3 Late Masterpieces Concert will see this talented orchestra of young musicians aged 12 to 24 perform Meale's tribute to surrealist Joan Mir?, Three Mir? Pieces as well as Tchaikovsky's final and most popular symphony, Symphony No 6. Pathétique and Kalliwoda's dramatic and operatic 19th century oboe concertino - featuring AdYO's own Joshua Oates as soloist.
"2013 is Josh's 5th year as a member of the Adelaide Youth Orchestra and I'm thrilled for him that it will also mark his debut as a concerto artist," says Associate Professor Keith Crellin OAM - AdYO's Artistic Director and conductor of the Late Masterpieces concert. "Kalliwoda's Concertino for Oboe will be a superb showcase for this gifted 20 year olds talent and a memorable experience for the audience."
Josh was awarded the opportunity to perform a concerto with the Adelaide Youth Orchestra, after applying to AdYOs Concerto Audition program last year.
