Fans of '70s gothic musical THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW are being asked to "Time Warp and Tweet" this Halloween to support their campaign for a DVD release of show's recent charity gala performance.

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, fans are petitioning the 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, FOX Broadcasting Company and Lou Adler to release the recording of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW LIVE's September 2015 production at London's Playhouse Theatre on DVD.

The campaign was given a boost this week after several members of the cast Tweeted messages of support about the campaign.

To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, Christopher Luscombe created the brand new production for a year-long UK national tour beginning December 2015. In the cast were Diana Vickers (Janet), Ben Freeman (Brad), Paul Cattermole (Eddie / Dr Scott), Liam Tamne (Frank 'N' Furter), Kristian Lavercombe (Riff Raff), Kay Murphy (Magenta), Sophie Linder-Lee (Columbia), Dominic Andersen (Rocky) and more.

The show, which was originally screened live to cinemas across the UK and Europe on 17 September from the Playhouse Theatre in London, saw an all-star cast -- including Stephen Fry, Emma Bunton, Anthony Head, Ade Edmondson and Mel Giedroyc -- celebrating 40 years of the hit musical, along with its creator, Richard O'Brien. The live screening was number one performer in UK cinemas grossing over £600,000 at the box office helping raise money for Amnesty International, a cause close to O'Brien's heart.

"I couldn't believe there were no plans for a DVD release!" said Richard Dunn, one of the fans behind the campaign who started a Facebook group in 2009 after first seeing the show. "Saturday night will be the perfect night to really push for a DVD as the show is being broadcast in five countries."

Campaigner Charlotte West, 32, went one step further and started a petition to campaign for a DVD release. "As the show was recorded, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get this version of the show out there," she explained.

Within days, the petition had gathered over 700 signatures, and the pair teamed up with fans Debbie Cairney and Nikki Golder, a graphic designer. "We would love to make our dreams a reality," explained Nikki. "We then came up with the hashtag #dontdreamitDVDit and started to use that hashtag and creating images for people to share."

"A huge number of Rocky Horror fans would buy this DVD," Debbie said, "and it could also help support Amnesty International like the gala."

The petition already has around 1,500 signatures, which shows that there is plenty of support for a DVD. Fans can sign the petition online at www.dontdreamitDVDit.org and join the Facebook group at www.rockyhorrorliveDVD.org for latest updates.

Watch THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW Live on Saturday 31st October and Tweet Halloween photos using the hashtag #dontdreamitDVDit. Fans can also follow the campaign on Twitter at @RHSliveDVD.

With music, lyrics and book by Richard O'Brien, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW was produced and directed by Jim Sharman at London's Royal Court Theatre in 1973. The show moved to Broadway in 1974 and has since been seen across the globe. The musical was adapted into the cult film THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW in 1975.

Inspired by science fiction and horror films of the 1940s-1970s, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW follows a straight-laced couple who gets caught in a storm and are forced to seek shelter at the mansion of a mad transvestite scientist who is about to reveal is newest Frankenstein-esque creation: Rocky. Popular songs from the musical include "Science Fiction", "Damn-it Janet", "Time Warp", "Hot Patootie", "Planet Schmanet Janet" and more.
