Wicked's Megan Hilty, as well as Leslie Kritzer and Sarah Stiles, will headline the cast of Vanities, a new musical premiering at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts in Palo Alto, CA from June 21st through July 16th.

Presented by Theatreworks, the show is the musical version of Jack Heifner's 1976 play. Starring Hilty as Mary, Kritzer as Kathy and Stiles as Joanne, Vanities features a book by Heifer and a score by David Kirshenbaum (Summer of '42). The show will be directed by Gordon Greenberg, who is currently represented by the Off-Broadway revival of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.

"Chronicling the comic journey of three vivacious Texas teens from cheerleaders to sorority sisters to housewives, liberated women and beyond, this tangy tale of coming-of-age in the '60s and '70s is a musical scrapbook of an era that had to be lived to be believed," states Theatreworks' website.

The original production the play Vanities ran at Playwrights Horizons before transferring to the Westside Theatre, where it would run for 1,313 performances. Kathy Bates was among the stars of the original production.

Hilty currently appears as the pink-clad, popular Glinda in Wicked. Kritzer, most recently seen Off-Broadway in The Great American Trailer Park Musical, appeared on Broadway in Hairspray. Stiles is currently an understudy in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Vanities will feature
choreography by Dan Knechtges, musical direction and vocal arrangements by Carmel Dean, orchestrations by Lynne Shankel, sets by John Arnone, costumes by Cathleen Edwards and lighting by Jeff Croiter.
