Patrick Stewart will play not only Ebenezer Scrooge, but Tiny Tim, Jacob Marley and a host of other characters in his one-man version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at London's Albery Theatre from December 6th through 31st.

The show has previously been a hit in both New York and London. In its 1993 production at the Old Vic, A Christmas Carol netted Stewart an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment; he also won a Drama Desk Award for Best Actor during the one of the show's four stints in New York. Adapted and directed by Stewart, the solo piece makes faithful use of Dickens' prose. The show boasts lighting design by Fred Allen. A Christmas Carol will follow Ducktastic, which closes on November 19th, into the Albery Theatre.

Stewart, while best known as Captain Jean-Luc Picard on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and in the film versions of the sci-fi franchise, is an acclaimed stage and film actor who is noted for his work in Shakespearean roles. Associated with the Royal Shakespeare Company for over two decades, his Broadway credits include The Caretaker, The Ride Down Mt. Morgan, The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream. He has been seen on screen in the X-Men films (and will appear in the third), as well as in Jeffrey, Dune, L.A. Story and others; he was Scrooge in a 1999 television adaptation of A Christmas Carol, as well.
