Stars in the Alley is the annual outdoor concert that features the stars of some of Broadway's most popular musicals performing musical numbers in Shubert Alley. This year's concert took place on June 1, 2005 and featured performances from ALL SHOOK UP, AVENUE Q, CHICAGO CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG,FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, HAIRSPRAY, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, MAMMA MIA!, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, THE PRODUCERS, RENT, SWEET CHARITY, and THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE.

At this year's BROADWAY'S STARS IN THE ALLEY®, The annual Star Award will be given to Joel Klein, Chancellor, Department of Education for the City of New York for his support for Broadway theatre by Gerald Schoenfeld, Chairman and Jed Bernstein, President of The League of American Theatres and Producers, Inc. BROADWAY'S STARS IN THE ALLEY®, is produced by the League of American Theatres and Producers, and presented by Continental Airlines, "The Official Airline of Live Broadway®" Official sponsors are Sprint and The New York Times. Additional support comes from the New York Marriott Marquis, and Broadway Previews.
