The Sun is reporting that actor Zac Efron may be considering the role of Alan Strang in EQUUS. At the London premiere of High School Musical 3 Efron was quoted as saying, "You know that Daniel Radcliffe role on Broadway? Well it's been mentioned.”

Daniel Radcliffe is scheduled to play the role through the end of the limited engagement on February 8th, 2008. There has been no official statement as of right now that the play will extend and if Radcliffe would continue in the role if it did.

EQUUS officially opened on September 25th, 2008 after beginning performances on September 5th, 2008.  EQUUS reunites the two stars of the wildly successful "Harry Potter" films:  Daniel Radcliffe, who portrays the brilliant young wizard, Harry Potter, and Richard Griffiths, who appears as Harry's Uncle Vernon Dursley. Mr. Griffiths was last seen on Broadway in 2006 when he won the Tony Award for Best Actor for "The History Boys."

Mr. Griffiths and Mr. Radcliffe starred together in EQUUS during its acclaimed engagement in London's West End last year. Kate Mulgrew is also featured in the cast of EQUUS on Broadway.

In EQUUS, psychiatrist Martin Dysart investigates the blinding of six horses, a savage act committed by a mild-mannered stable boy, Alan Strang, whose home life is filled with bigotry and religious fervor.  As Dysart reveals the mysteries behind the boy's demons, he realizes he is confronting his own.

Directed by Thea Sharrock, EQUUS is produced on Broadway by The Shubert Organization and Elizabeth Ireland McCann, Roger Berlind, John Gore, Hirschfeld Productions, Bill Kenwright, Emily Fisher Landau, Arielle Tepper Madover, Peter May, Chase Mishkin and Spring Sirkin.

Joining the previously announced Richard Griffiths, Daniel Radcliffe and Kate Mulgrew in EQUUS are Anna Camp, Carolyn McCormick, Lorenzo Pisoni, T. Ryder Smith, Graeme Malcolm and Sandra Shipley, along with Collin Baja, Tyrone Jackson, Spencer Liff

EQUUS performance schedule is as follows: Tuesdays at 7 p.m., Wednesdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.
