Larry Gelbart at Northlight: One-Night Only!

By:

Northlight Theatre announces a one-night only post-show conversation with Larry Gelbart, co-author of Northlight's World Premiere of Better Late. The post-show discussion, moderated by Former Chief Theatre Critic of the Chicago Tribune Richard Christiansen, will be held Sunday, March 30, 2008, following the 7:00 p.m. performance.  The discussion is free with a ticket purchase to the March 30 performance.

Better Late by Larry Gelbart and Craig Wright is directed by Artistic Director BJ Jones and features John Mahoney, Mike Nussbaum, Linda Kimbrough, and Steve Key. The production runs March 28-May 11, 2008, at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie.  The official press opening is Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 7:30 p.m.

Larry Gelbart is a prolific American comedy writer with over sixty years of credits. Career highlights include the Broadway farce A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the television series 'M*A*S*H', the noir musical City of Angels, and the screenplays for Oh, God! and Tootsie.  He has won over a dozen different awards including three Emmys, three Tonys and the 1981 Laurel Award for outstanding career achievement in television writing from the Writer's Guild of America.

This world premiere production, commissioned by Northlight, brings back playwright Craig Wright (Grace, Lady) and actors Steve Key (Grace), Linda Kimbrough (She Stoops to Conquer, Red Herring) and Mike Nussbaum (Grace, among many others) and welcomes actor John Mahoney and playwright Larry Gelbart (Emmy and Tony Award-winning author of 'M.A.S.H'. and City of Angels), to Northlight.  When Julian is forced to move in with his ex-wife and her new husband, the situation quickly spirals out of control. As the laughter builds, the question becomes: how long will Julian have to stay? This bitingly funny December-December-December romance is a not-to-be-missed new comedy.
