Goldfarb's Comedy 'Modern Orthodox' - Lake Worth Playhouse

By:

Modern Orthodox

A Comedy by Daniel Goldfarb

To open at the Lake Worth Playhouse February 29th

Modern Orthodox, a romantic comedy about love, sex, faith and friendship, will open on February 29th at the Lake Worth Playhouse. Written by Daniel Goldfarb (co-writer, with Martin Short, of Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me,) the play will run for three weeks – through March 16th

"Modern Orthodox is a young play, about young people," Goldfarb has said.  "But its universal appeal is so positive and so optimistic that the vast majority of people who come have a great time.  It is about commitment and faith."

"This small cast of four talented actors has really gelled," says director Lisa Pariseau.  Each rehearsal I witness them gracing us with their intuition, sensitivity, personality and comedic abilities…and pushing themselves creatively. They are so well suited to their roles."

Both Amy Hoerler (Rachel) and Veronica Bero (Hannah) will be making their Lake Worth Playhouse debuts in Modern Orthodox.  Paul Heiner (Ben) and George Bronos (Hershel) were last seen in the recent Playhouse production of the Carol Burnett/Carrie Hamilton play, Hollywood Arms.

Director Lisa Pariseau studied musical theatre and voice at the Julliard Extension Program and studied with Pamela Berlin (director of Off-Broadway's Steel Magnolias).  She wrote and directed three short films at the New York Film Academy and appeared in three national television commercials as well as an independent film by director Michael Almerayda.  She also directed a staged reading of Pat Hurley's play After the Indians in New York.

Pariseau is no stranger to the Lake Worth Playhouse.  She too appeared in Hollywood Arms, in the key role of Louise, as well as in last season's production of Fiddler on the Roof. She also starred as Princess Puffer in The Mystery of Edwin Drood.  Her six year old son Sam (with lighting designer Futz Cappel) recently appeared in the Playhouse production of Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Modern Orthodox will open on February 29th and run through March 16th.  Performances are ninety minutes long, with no intermission, and are on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.   Tickets are $28 for front orchestra and $23 for rear orchestra. Tickets for all performances are on sale now and are available for purchase at the Playhouse box office at 561-586-6410 or on line at: www.lakeworthplayhouse.org.  Group rates are also available.
