Scott Alan wrote the book, music and lyrics for the musical Detour, which ran for an extended, sold out, 10 week run at the Complex Theater in Los Angeles, California. Many of Broadway's elite has sung his music in concert, benefits and recordings. Starting as a solo performer signed to a label deal, he moved on and quickly found his home working as an assistant Musical Director in Los Angeles alongside some of the best, including Ricky Minor and Diane Louie. His love for theater brought him back to New York where he is working on his newest musical project, Piece, with book writer Tara Smith, which has been presented at both the NAMT festival and Seattle's Village Theatre Festival.

As a producer, Alan conceived the popular monthly "Monday Nights, New Voices" series at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, which features some of today's biggest Broadway stars and composer/lyricists honoring upcoming theatre talent, including emerging writers. On June 12, 2006, Alan served as head artistic producer and director, in conjunction with The York Theatre, on the Neo2 Benefit for The York Theatre.
