The Tony-Award winning musical 42nd Street opens in Shanghai, China on September 5 for an unprecedented seven-city tour.

"This definitive tribute to New York City will later tour to Beijing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Hefei and Ningbo, marking the first time a Broadway production has toured this extensively throughout China," state press notes, "A musical that embodies the excitement of Broadway, 42nd Street tells the story of a small-town girl who realizes her dream after she goes from chorus girl to leading lady in a big-time musical production."

42nd Street is directed by Tony-Award nominee Mark Bramble, a co-writer of the original 1980 production and writer/director of the 2001 Tony-Award winning revival ? a giving Chinese audiences the rare opportunity to see the playwright's original vision.  This classic American musical will be the first of many Broadway shows that the Nederlander/Chinese venture will tour across China.
