Variety reports that Chris Noth, joining the previously announced Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis, will reprise his role as Mr. Big in the upcoming film version of "Sex and the City."

Produced and distributed by New Line Cinemas, the long-in-development "Sex and the City" film will reunite Drama Desk-nominee Parker (Once Upon a Mattress, Wonder of the World; film: The Family Stone) as Carrie Bradshaw, Tony Award-winner Nixon (Rabbit Hole, The Women) as Miranda Hobbes, Cattrall (London's The Cryptogram, Whose Life Is It Anyway; film: The Bonfire of the Vanities) as Samantha Jones and Davis (Deck the Halls, The Shaggy Dog) as Charlotte York, with Noth as commitment-phobe Mr. Big.  The series' executive producer Michael Patrick King will direct and write the screenplay, as well as produce alongside Parker, John Melfi and series creator Darren Star (who based "Sex and the City" upon the columns by Candace Bushnell).

An international hit and style trendsetter, "Sex and the City" ran on HBO from 1998 through 2004.  It followed the professional, romantic and sexual exploits of four successful Manhattan friends - refined Charlotte, raunchy Samantha, ambitious Miranda and romantic Carrie.  Storyline details have yet to be announced for the feature film.

Noth, who currently appears on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," has appeared Off-Broadway in What Didn't Happen, Arms and the Man and Innocents, Thoughts, Harmless Intentions.  His other film and TV credits include Tooth Fairy, "Julius Caesar," "Crossing Jordan," The Glass House, and Cast Away.
