The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (Gamm) will present Sin: A Cardinal Deposed, an unflinching docu-drama by playwright Michael Murphy that melds together the words and characters of the Catholic clergy sex abuse crisis in Boston, MA.

The play had its world premiere in Chicago, IL in 2004 and has received both audience and critical acclaim.

The basis for the play are the testimonies surrounding Law, whose governance of his diocese was scrutinized when years of sexual abuse by priests under his authority were finally revealed. Murphy used both actual courtroom testimony by victims and accused child molesters, as well as internal Church documents in Sin.

Gamm Resident Director Judith Swift directs Resident Actor Sam Babbitt in the role of Cardinal Bernard F. Law.

The Gamm's production of Sin will include a post-show discussion after every performance, with representatives of support groups for survivors of sexual abuse by clergy, as well as scholars and artists involved in the show.

Sin: A Cardinal Deposed begins previews on March 22 and opens on March 26, with performances through April 22 at The Gamm Theatre, 172 Exchange St., Pawtucket, RI.All preview tickets are only $19.  Tickets can be purchased at www.artixri.com.
