BAT BOY THE MUSICAL made its Off Broadway debut at the Union Square Theatre on March 3, 2001 to rave reviews, and played its final performance on Sunday, December 2, 2001 - and then reached "cult" status across the country.

Rumors started circulating almost a year ago as to the possibility of a film version being produced - the latest being on Ain't It Cool News a few days ago.

Producer, Michael Alden told BroadwayWorld.com that "The UK Bat Boy team was thrilled to hear that John Landis was interested in seeing the West End production.  Upon his arrival, he did not see the show once, but three times.  Following meetings here in London, Mr. Landis returned to Los Angeles for a meeting with the authors.  That meeting resulted in his confirming interest in developing and directing, BAT BOY THE MOVIE MUSICAL. Negotiations are underway."

The creative team (Brian Flemming, Keythe Farley and Larry O'Keefe) responsible for Bat Boy: The Musical will also pen the screenplay. S
hooting is scheduled for Fall '05 under the Michael Alden Production banner.
