Zoë Wanamaker to Star in London 'Rose Tattoo'

Zoë Wanamaker, who was Tony-nominated last year for her turn in the revival of Awake and Sing!, will star in Tennessee Williams' drama The Rose Tattoo on the London stage.

Wanamaker will star as Serafina, the volatile Italian-American widow who tries to shield her daughter from the forces of lust.  Directed by Steven Pimlott, The National Theatre's production will begin at the Olivier Theatre on March 19th and open on March 29th.

The Rose Tattoo will also star Sheila Ballantine, Darrell D'Silva, Susannah Fielding, Stephanie Jacob, Rosalind Knight, Andrew Langtree, Maggie McCarthy and Jules Melvin.

An Olivier Award-winner for her work in Electra and Once in a Lifetime, Wanamaker has earned Tony nominations for Awake and Sing!, Electra, Loot and Piaf.  Her film and TV credits include "My Family," "Dr. Who," Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (as Madame Hooch) and Wilde.
