Adam Pascal to Star in New Film 'Goyband'

Tony and Drama Desk-nominee Adam Pascal has been cast in a new feature film called Goyband, described as a "gefilte fish out-of-water story." 

The Rent and Aida star plays former boyband frontsman "Bobby Starr," whose skidded career (and love life) take an unusual turn while playing the Borscht Belt's first kosher casino.

Joining Pascal are TV's Amy Davidson ("8 Simple Rules... for Dating My Teenage Daughter"), film favorites Natasha Lyonne (American Pie, Die Mommie Die), Tibor Feldman (The Devil Wears Prada), and William Wise (In the Bedroom), four-time Tony-nominee and three-time Drama Desk-winner Tovah Feldshuh, Ovation-, Garland-, and Lotte Lenya Singing Competition-winner Erik Liberman, and dancer-choreographer (and producer/host of TV's upcoming "Dirty Dancing") Cris Judd.

Produced by Red Sky Pictures and directed by Christopher Grimm, whose credits include Rhythm Thief (Jury Prize at Sundance), Spare Me, and Calling the Ghosts (two Emmys and a Cable Ace Award), Goyband is currently shooting in New York, and is slated for a 2007 release.

Pascal earned Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, as well as Theater World Award and an Obie Award for Outstanding Talent for the role of Roger Davis in the Jonathan Larson musical Rent on Broadway.  He won a Drama League Award for his performance as Radames in Aida, and was also seen on Broadway as the Emcee in Cabaret. His first rock CD, "Model Prisoner" was released by Sh-K-Boom Records in 2001, while the follow-up album "Civilian" was released in 2004.  He also co-produced the Off-Broadway hit "Fully Committed."  Film credits include School of Rock and Rent, in which he reprised the role of Roger.
