As a tribute to the stars of the original 1960s beach party movies, cast members of the new musical Go-Go Beach posed for their very own 60's style publicity shots. The musical will be performed as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival at the 37 Arts Theatre for six performances only from September 14th through 23rd.

The show "is a coming-of-age story about a surfer who gets into trouble with his girlfriend when he falls for a runaway teen pop star, and the flower child who helps him discover the true meaning of life. It features an original score inspired by the surf sound, girl groups, go-go music, and a little flower power as well," according to press notes. Book and lyrics are by John Wimbs, with music by Michael Shaieb and Brent Lord. John Simpkins directs.

Go-Go Beach stars Austin Miller (Hairspray on tour and in Las Vegas) as California surfer Woody, Erin Leigh Peck (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, Dance of the Vampires) as Annette Funicello-inspired J.J., Coleen Sexton (Jekyll & Hyde) as runaway teen pop star Mindy Chinchilla, and Amy Goldberger as Ann-Margret-inspired Kitten. The cast also includes Chandra Lee Schwartz, Timothy Smith, David A. Austin, Michael Buchanan, Colt Prattes, Shelley Thomas and Savannah Wise.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased on-line at www.nymf.org or by calling (212) 352-3101. For more information, visit www.gogobeach.com.
