Michael Ingersoll Cast as Nick Massi in Jersey Boys Tour

Michael Ingersoll, a Chicago-based actor who recently starred in

tick, tick...BOOM! for the Pegasus Players, will play Nick Massi in the upcoming national tour of Jersey Boys, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Ingersoll will take on the role of the bass singer, who is played on Broadway by J. Robert Spencer

The Jersey Boys tour will kick off in San Francisco this December, and was also recently announced to play Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre from May through July 2007.  More dates and cities will be announced, as will casting for the remaining three Four Seasons stars.

Ingersoll will next appear (opposite wife Angela Ingersoll) in a Chicago production of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change at the Metropolis Theatre.  Other regional credits include and Carousel, Oklahoma!, Sweet Charity and Sweeney Todd.

Jersey Boys is "the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons – Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi, and how this group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time.  They wrote their own songs, invented their own sound and sold 175 million records worldwide – all before they were thirty," according to press notes.  The show won the 2006 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Jersey Boys is directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Des McAnuff.  The musical, which won a total of four 2006 Tony Awards and continues to set new weekly box office records at the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway, is written by Academy Award winner Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.

The Jersey Boys design and production team will also comprise Klara Zieglerova (sets), Jess Goldstein (costumes), Howell Binkley (winner of the 2006 Tony Award for his Lighting Design of Jersey Boys), Steve Canyon Kennedy (sound), Michael Clark (projections), Charles LaPointe (wig and hair design), Steve Orich (orchestrations) and Ron Melrose (music direction, vocal arrangements & incidental music).

The musical is produced on Broadway by Dodger Theatricals, Joseph J. Grano, Pelican Group, Tamara and Kevin Kinsella, in association with Latitude Link and Rick Steiner/Oshen/Staton/Bell/Mayerson Group.
