Warren, Burns, Dvorsky, Etc. Set for Wallenberg at NYMF

By:
Thom Christopher Warren, Andrea Burns, and George Dvorsky will headline the cast of Wallenberg, a new musical about one of the greatest heroes of the 20th century, that will be seen as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival's Developmental Reading series on September 17th at 7 PM and September 20th at 8 PM at New World Stages (340 West 50th St.).

"Raoul Wallenberg saved the lives of over 100,000 Hungarian Jews during World War II--more than were rescued by any other individual, organization or government during the entire Holocaust. Between face-offs with the notorious Nazi colonel, Adolf Eichmann, and secret dealings with the wife of one of Hungary's most prominent fascist leaders, Wallenberg was able to accomplish more in six months than most people do in a lifetime. When the war ended, Wallenberg was abducted by the Russians, never to be seen again," state NYMF notes.  The musical features music by Benjamin Rosenbluth (Masada), with book and lyrics by Laurence Holzman and Felicia Needleman (Suddenly Hope, The Jerusalem Syndrome).  Annette Jolles will direct.

The cast of 35 will also include Hal Davis, Ron DeStefano, Alice Evans, Colby Foytik, Dennis Holland, A.J. Irvin, Laura Patinkin, James Sasser, Nick Verina, and Jennifer Zimmerman.

Warren - who will be seen in the heroic title role - has appeared on Broadway in The Lion King and Once Upon a Mattress.  Burns's Broadway credits include The Full Monty and Beauty and the Beast, as well as Off-Broadway's Saturday Night and Songs for a New World.  Dvorksy has been seen on Broadway in The Scarlet Pimpernel, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Passion, Marilyn and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and Off-Broadway in Pete 'n' Keely and Dames at Sea.

The readings are free.  Visit www.nymf.org for more information.
