On July 3rd, Lewis Cleale succeeded Christopher Sieber in the Broadway production of Spamalot.

Cleale now plays Sieber's roles of Sir Dennis Galahad, The Black Knight, and Prince Herbert's Father.  He joins a cast that includes Harry Groener as King Arthur, Martin Moran as Sir Robin, Steve Kazee as Sir Lancelot, Lauren Kennedy as the Lady of the Lake, Steve Rosen as Sir Bedevere, Michael McGrath as Patsy, and Christian Borle as Historian/Prince Herbert.

Sieber will join the cast of the upcoming London production of Spamalot in October. Spamalot is also currently on a hit national tour.

Cleale was previously seen on Broadway in Amour, Once Upon a Mattress and Swinging on a Star, while Off-Broadway credits include Time and Again and national tour credits include Sunset Boulevard and Mamma Mia!.

Directed by Mike Nichols, the Tony Award-winning Spamalot has a book by Eric Idle, "lovingly ripped-off" from the screenplay of the Pythons' best-loved film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. "Telling the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and their quest for the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Spamalot features a chorus line of dancing divas (and serfs), flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits and a legless knight," state press notes.

Book and lyrics are by Idle with a Grammy Award-winning score by Idle and John Du Prez. Other members of the creative team include Casey Nicholaw (choreography), multiple Olivier Award-winners Tim Hatley (sets and costumes) and Hugh Vanstone (lighting) and Acme Sound Partners.
