HappyGoodThings presents the world premiere of ...didn't see that coming, Beverley Elliott's funny and moving collection of autobiographical stories which take the audience on a comedic romp from small town Ontario to Vancouver's gay bars and red carpets. This touchingly personal and satisfyingly irreverent exploration of humanity is directed by her friend and colleague of 30 years, Jessie Award winner Kerry Sandomirsky, who has been close by holding the tissue for many of these life changing events. ...didn't see that coming runs as part of the Vancouver Fringe Festival, today, September 5-14, 2014 at Performance Works with Musical Direction by Bill Costin.

Inspired by her live performances at the Flame, her writing group Wet Ink Collective, and years of entertaining crowds gigging in various bands in a parade of bars, ...didn't see that coming will take you on a journey, revealing unexpected blessings and uncomfortable epiphanies. From catching a bouquet, being called Smelly Elliott, attending a Guess Who concert, growing up with Presbyterian morals, a generous Greek admirer and a yellow dress, the highs and lows of singing at weddings and funerals, relationships with straight men going nowhere and relationships with gay men going to the grave- all held together with the galvanizing salve of songs, the lifeboat of music.

"Beverley Elliott is magnetic. Its hard not to feel disappointed every time she walks off the stage."-Erika Thorkelson, Vancouver Sun

Thanked by Clint Eastwood at the Academy Awards, snubbed by Tony Danza on a local Christmas movie, Beverley Elliott has over 100 film and TV credits, and is well known around the world for her recurring role as "Granny" on ABC's hit series, Once Upon a Time. Some of her many theatre credits include 5 successful tours with the internationally acclaimed Mom's the Word. She has toured as a musician and has released four CDs of original music.

"Elliott's voice communicates a reassuring humanity." - Tom Harrison, The Province

Kerry Sandomirsky is a multiple Jessie Award nominee and winner, and has had more than one hundred roles in theatre, Film and TV. A graduate of UBC and SFU, she is a faculty member at Studio 58, Langara, a recipient of creative writing scholarship from SFU and a member of the 2013 Banff Playwrights Colony. As an actor, she has been involved in bringing many new Canadian plays to the stage including Unity 1918, Life After God, Haunted, Communion, Late Company... and now ...didn't see that coming.
