Eliza Power's FEATHERS to Play Hen & Chickens

Eliza Power's modern reworking of Tereus, Procne and Philomena from Ovid's Metamorphoses returns to London for the first time since 2012, where it enjoyed sell-out runs at the Etcetera Theatre and Edinburgh and Sydney Fringe Festivals.

Directed by Milla Jackson, sex, lies and black comedy permeate Feathers, blending mythological symbolism and contemporary dialogue to create a dark tale of two sisters bound together by a past neither can escape.

When Marisa and Dan welcome Marisa's estranged sister Edie into their home, to help care for their toddler son, their marriage is put to the test. Their marriage, already marred by interference from Marisa's meddling best friend and the hint of infidelity, is put to the test as Marisa's sister's behavior becomes more and more erratic.

As birds die and fall out of the sky, Edie, struggling to settle into the fractured household finds solace in her new lover Nathan. But as Dan's undeniable attraction to Edie develops, a dark history between the two sisters begins to emerge...

Trained at RADA, Eliza Power is a playwright, screenwriter and actress. Feathers was Eliza's debut, and since, her highly acclaimed plays have enjoyed sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Sydney Fringe Festival and have been presented at many theatres including the Workshop Theatre New York, Tristan Bates and the Bike Shed Theatre. Eliza is currently developing two comedy pilots for television and a full length drama screenplay, she also produces the popular Short Cuts comedy festival and is the Artistic Director of theatre Production Company Sibling Productions.

Milla Jackson is a freelance director. She studied at University College London specialising in ancient drama, and trained at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Recent projects include Heartbreak Productions' national open-air tour of The Importance of Being Earnest; The Telemachy, a new adaptation of the Odyssey; and William M. Hoffman's As Is at Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Milla has a particular interest in modern re-imaginings of classic stories.

As well as producing Feathers, in association with Sibling Productions, Michelle Neil plays Julia. Michelle trained with Actors College of Theatre & Television (ACTT) in Sydney before founding Pursuit Productions Company and The Actors Collective. She has also produced Patrick Marber's Closer and co-produced the award-winning Bondi Dreaming with Nick Bolton.

Playing the sisters Marissa and Edie are Carrie Marx and Charlotte Mulliner. Carrie has recently appeared in Darktales and Arthur Smith's Mindlessness: A Beginner's Guide, both at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She has also appeared in Brixton Beach Boulevard, and the musicals I Hope You Are Happy and Jurassic Park: The Musical. Charlotte has appeared in Anna Fox's Revelations and The Reversed Shakespeare Company's A Midsummer Night's Dream. In 2015 she was part of the Theatre By The Lake company appearing in Enlightenment, The Lady of the Lake, Suddenly Last Summer and Mr Paradise.

Completing the cast are Joshua Boyd-Campbell as Nathan and Ben Mann as Dan. Joshua's credits include the lead role in Dyonisus for Creative Blueballs and roles in How to Hold Your Breath at the Royal Court and Dunsinane for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Ben has appeared in numerous productions for the Bards Front Room Theatre, as well as performing in New York in Oedipus Rex at Dixon Place and Philip Ridley's Mercury Fur at The Tank.
