Excitement is building for the Toronto premiere of the new Cameron Mackintosh production of Boublil & Schönberg's masterpiece LES MISERABLES, the first show of the 2013-2014 Mirvish Subscription Season.
Full company rehearsals for the predominantly Canadian cast begin Monday, August 19. Performances for the limited engagement at the Princess of Wales Theatre begin September 27, 2013.
Ramin Karimloo will star as Jean Valjean. This will be a homecoming for this talented young man from Richmond Hill, ON. In London's West End, he has played Valjean in the London production, portrayed the title role in The Phantom of the Opera and created the same role in the world premiere production of Love Never Dies. Ramin also played Enjolras in the 25th Anniversary concert of LES MISERABLES at London's O2 and the Phantom in the 25th Anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera at Royal Albert Hall.
From the U.K., acclaimed West End actor Earl Carpenter will star as Javert, a role he has played in productions around the world. He has also played the title role in The Phantom of the Opera on the West End and in the UK Tour of Cameron Mackintosh's all new production.
Hailing from Quebec, Genevieve Leclerc will star as Fantine, a role she most recently played in the North American tour of LES MISERABLES.
Fresh from starring in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, Winnipeg's Samantha Hill will star as Cosette.
Canadian Idol Season 3 winner, Juno nominee and Broadway/Stratford star of Jesus Christ Superstar, Melissa O'Neil will star as Eponine.
From the United States, Perry Sherman will star as Marius. He recently toured North America in tours of the Broadway shows Next To Normal and Spring Awakening.
Toronto's Cliff Saunders, known for his roles in Disney's Beauty and the Beast and The Lord of the Rings in Toronto, and 39 Steps on Broadway, will star as Thénardier.
Having recently completed her Dora Award-winning role in the Toronto production of The Wizard of Oz, Lisa Horner will star as Madame Thénardier.
Mark Uhre, Shaw Festival favourite, will play Enjolras.
The role of Little Cosette/Young Eponine will be shared by Ella Ballentine, Saara Chaudry and Madison Oldroyd.
The role of Gavroche will be shared by David Gregory Black and Aiden Glenn.
