RIALTO CHATTER: Cumming Confirms: More Delays for SPIDER-MAN

Broadway vet Alan Cumming, who is set to star as the Green Goblin in Broadway's upcoming SPIDER-MAN: Turn off the Dark, told the New York Times on Saturday that the show will indeeed experience further delays. Though the show's official website claims that previews are set to begin on February 25, Cumming tells the Times at a TimesTalk event this weekend (as part of the paper's annual Arts & Leisure Weekend), 'No one's going to be there that day. The LA Times has named its Faces to Watch in 2010 in theatre. The list can include up-and-coming actors, writers, directors, and plays or musicals that they expect to make an impact in the theatre world in the upcoming year. This year the list includes Brian Geraghty, who is set to star in the upcoming THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, author of DOCTOR CERBERUS, and the upcoming Broadway musical SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK. SPIDER-MAN Star Reeve Carney is One of EW's '10' to Watch in 2010

After an exhaustive search that included a casting call tour spanning six cities and thousands of candidates, the producers and creative team have selected Reeve Carney to play the role of Peter Parker, The Amazing Spider-Man. RIALTO CHATTER: Fate of 'SPIDER-MAN' to Be Determined on Friday

The New York Times is now reporting that a meeting has been scheduled for Friday with director Julie Taymor and members of the creative team and producers to discuss and determine the fate of the show. Executives quoted (anonymously) in the New York Times story tell the paper that it's expected that the show may not be prepared to open by April 29, 2010, the cutoff date for the Tony Awards nominators. RIALTO CHATTER: Evan Rachel Wood's Rep Says She's Still Signed on for SPIDER-MAN

This week's issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine checked in with the rep for Evan Rachel Wood, who previous rumors stated was let go as Mary Jane, along with other contracted performers from SPIDER-MAN when the show hit financial troubles. Wood's representative tells the magazine however that she is still on board and that she was never set loose. Co-star Alan Cumming's rep was 'unavailable for comment.' (more...)
