New Line Cinema's film version of the smash hit Broadway musical 'Rock of Ages' has begun principal photography under the direction of Adam Shankman ('Hairspray'), and despite his current lawsuit from his incident performing with hthe cast of the Broadway cast at the 2010 Tony Awards, Poison frontman Bret Michaels dropped by the set. ROCK OF AGES' Levin Sues Movie Version Over Producers' Fees

New Line Cinema's film version of the smash hit Broadway musical 'Rock of Ages' has begun principal photography under the direction of Adam Shankman ('Hairspray'), and not everyone is thrilled about the big screen adaptation. According to Thewrap.com, Broadway producer Carl Levin from Eleven Entertainment claims that the movie owes him more than the $400,000 that was piad to him in producers' fees. Levin filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday, July 6. (more...)

Malin Akerman Joins ROCK OF AGES Movie!

According to Deadline.com, Malin Akerman has joined the cast of the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of ROCK OF AGES. Akerman will play Constance, 'a journalist who intends to write an expose on decadent rocker Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise).' Director Adam Shankan previously offered the role to both ANne Hathaway and Amy Adams. (more...)

Bryan Cranston Joins ROCK OF AGES FIlm

'Breaking Bad's' Bryan Cranston is set to play the mayor in the upcoming 'Rock of Ages' film, to be directed by Shankman and based on the Broadway musical, according to Deadline.com. Cranston will play the husband of an advocate who wants to ban rock and roll. That role will be played by Catherine Zeta-Jones and both were created specifically for the movie. (more...)

Maroulis to Depart ROCK OF AGES in July; Working on Album

'American Idol' alum and Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis will soon say goodbye to the national tour of Rock of ages, according to a recent interview with JSOnline. Maraoulis, who originated leading man 'Drew' on Broadway, commented: 'I've set out and accomplished everything I've wanted to do.' Maroulis departs from the show in July after being involved with the show for three years. (more...)

Catherine Zeta Jones Joins ROCK OF AGES Film!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Adam Shankman has created a role for Catherine Zeta Jone in the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of ROCK OF AGES. JOne, who is currently in final negotiations for the film, will play a villian character described by Shankman as: 'if Tipper Gore and Anita Bryant had a love child. She is this hardcore, moral majority, arch-conservative who wants to shut down rock'n roll in the great city of Los Angeles.' (more...)

In celebration of the reopening of Rock of Ages at the Helen Hayes Theatre, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister was honored with a certificate naming him the show's worldwide ambassador during a celebration held at Bowlmor Lanes Times Square this past Friday. Snider, whose music is featured in the hit Broadway show (‘I Wanna Rock' and ‘We're Not Gonna Take It'), recently played the character of 'Dennis' for an 11 week run before the show went dark last fall in anticipation of its move to the Helen Hayes Theatre. After a breif hiatus, ROCK OF AGES re-opened at the Helen Hayes Theatre on Broadway last night, March 24. The five-time Tony Award nominated musical played its final performance at The Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Sunday, January 9, 2011. The production moved houses to make way for RAIN, which had to vacate it's home at the Neil Simon Theatre to accommodate Catch Me If You Can.
