Stacy Keach Champions Michigan Shakespeare Festival

The Michigan Shakespeare Festival, the official Shakespeare Festival of the State of Michigan, has announced that award winning actor Stacy Keach, regarded as perhaps America's greatest interpreter of the Bard's greatest roles, has given his support to the MSF mission and 2012 season. Currently starring on Broadway in John Robin Baitz's Tony-nominated "Other Desert Cities," the well known TV, stage, and film actor is excited to lend his voice to the Michigan Shakespeare Festival's renewed outreach both in Michigan and the Midwest. Guthrie's 2012-2013 Season Includes Tony-Nominated Roger Rees, OTHER DESERT CITIES & CLYBOURNE PARK

The Guthrie's 2012-13 season features three major Tony Award nominees, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris and Other Desert Cities by Jon Robin Baitz, which were both nominated for Best Play. The Guthrie's upcoming season also features Roger Rees as director of Crispin Whittell's new play The Primrose Path. Rees has been nominated for a 2012 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for his work on Peter and the Starcatcher. (more...)

The Drama League has announced that this year's 78th Annual Drama League Awards will be hosted by Tony Award winners Stockard Channing (Other Desert Cities) and John Larroquette (Gore Vidal's The Best Man). The awards ceremony is set for Friday afternoon, May 18th at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway) at Noon. Beginning Tuesday, March 27, Matthew Risch will be playing the role of Trip Wyeth replacing Justin Kirk, who will play his last performance this Sunday, March 25. He will be joining Stacy Keach, Judith Light, Elizabeth Marvel and Lauren Klein, who is playing the role of Polly Wyeth until Thursday, April 5. Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced that Elizabeth Marvel will return to the cast of its critically acclaimed production of OTHER DESERT CITIES, a new play by Jon Robin Baitz, directed by Joe Mantello, beginning Tuesday, March 6 at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45 Street). Ms. Marvel, who created the role of Brooke Wyeth when OTHER DESERT CITIES premiered at LCT's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater last winter, will join Stockard Channing, Stacy Keach, Judith Light and Justin Kirk in the production, replacing Rachel Griffiths who will play her final performance in the play on Sunday, March 4. Stockard Channing Returns to OTHER DESERT CITIES Following Knee Surgery

As BroadwayWorld.com previously reported, the Tony-winning star of OTHER DESERT CITIES, Stockard Channing took leave from the production on November 18 to undergo arthoscopic knee surgery on November 21. Lauren Klein has been performing the role of 'Polly' while Channing recovers. (more...)
