Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS announced today that it is awarding $300,000 in emergency grants to immediately help the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. On behalf of the entire Broadway and New York City theater community - those onstage, offstage and in the audience - Broadway Cares is providing $100,000 each to Global Giving's Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund, the International Rescue Committee and Project HOPE.

This Giving Tuesday, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is giving back, with a goal of providing 80,000 healthy meals for people who do not have enough to eat this winter. You can help by making a donation tomorrow. Donations will be matched dollar for dollar by generous donors Jodi and Howard Tenenbaum and Elizabeth Armstrong, if $100,000 is raised by the end of the day.

While theaters on Broadway and across the country were forced into darkness because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS supporters shined brightly, fueling $13,024,000 in grants to The Actors Fund and 424 other social services agencies across the country during fiscal year 2021, which ends September 30.

The show, directed by Tony Award winner and Bares creator Jerry Mitchell and co-directed by Laya Barak and Nick Kenkel, featured 14 original numbers that opened the doors for 170 dancers to uncover fantasies and discover confidence in the wake of being stuck at home for so long.

In Broadway Bares: Twerk from Home, Peppermint joins the cast to perform “Strip,” a new song by Frank Boccia, and Armstrong reveals more than his home exercise regime in a sweaty opening number. Tony Award winner Fierstein makes a special appearance as the show begins, with Ghee, Hurder and Remy each sharing the impact of donations made throughout the stream.

Sadly, Broadway Bares’ 30th anniversary event, scheduled for Sunday, June 21, 2020, was postponed last year because of the pandemic, but fans need not wait that much longer! The annual striptease spectacular, produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, will be presented on Sunday, June 20, 2021.

Theatrical poster designer Frank Verlizzo is selling prints of some of his rejected designs for musicals such as Cabaret, The Lion King, and Matilda, to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Since Red Bucket Match-Up launched, celebrity fundraiser Jason Alexander took to Twitter to challenge the other team leaders to share musical performances in exchange for donations from fans. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has announced the first Red Bucket Match-Up, an online fundraising campaign starting today to fund BC/EFA's National Grants Program. The two-week competition, with a $2 million goal, will help provide lifesaving medication, health care and emergency assistance to those across the country struggling right now.
