'Pippin' performs at the Cadillac Palace and Sidetrack, dueling showtune concerts on August 17, and a summer 'Altar Boyz.' The team will once again bring IDIOT to audiences - this time in movie theaters, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Under the direction of Michael Mayer, and featuring Billie Joe Armstrong reprising his Broadway role as St. Jimmy, the film aims for a 2013 premiere under Tom Hanks' Playtone Productions.

Though Universal Pictures has chosen not to produce an IN THE HEIGHTS film, the studio has its sights set on another Broadway hit: Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT.

As revealed in the New York Times, Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer may continue their collaboration on an original musical in the near future.

The Broadway-bound 'American Idiot' musical is in talks with Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman to turn the musical into a film, reports Deadline.com.
