Ensemble Theatre is pleased to present Benefactors, a witty and funny production written by Michael Frayn, creator of international hits, Copenhagen and Noises Off, on from 16th June to 22nd July 2023.
Frayn explores what it is to be human in a statistically driven world, in this Olivier Award-winning comedy set in the late 1960s.
David, a determined architect, strives to improve the quality of urban housing but his futile attempts lead to chaos when the high-rise boom goes bust and close friends are caught in the crossfire.
Almost 4 decades after BENEFACTORS premiered in 1984, Michael Frayn’s comic contemplation of the effect of an Architect’s solution to London’s housing crisis on his family and friends retains a relevance as human behavior with regards to giving and taking, supporting and surviving is eternal.
Ensemble Theatre has announced its 2023 season, with everything from classics to new works, hilarious comedy, to touching drama. Next year sees another 10-play season take to the stage, featuring huge cast names and brilliant playwrights, with a focus on female writing and directing.
