Adam Small's play Joanie Galant-They are a reflection story we take back to the forced removals that occurred during the Apartheid era. A family forced from their home in Woodstock, and had to go to the Cape Flats. This story gives a familiar feel to man: not only is it a reminder that we are in history lie, but it goes to the question to ask; WHERE ARE WE REALLY AT HOME IN THIS LIFE? There are three main characters in the production; Joanie Galant, her husband Joseph, and her brother Davy. The family found themselves in the same situation, where they moved three times. During the story loses Joanie vision to reality until she ended up in an institution. Davy felt that his sister was finally in a place where no one can evict her; The Institutes.
