Roelof Temmingh to Make Debut at Nederburg Concert Series, 27 July

The Nederburg Concert Series for 2014, supported by the Distell Foundation, will present the debut of gifted young pianist, Roelof Temmingh. Temmingh will appear in concert at the Manor House on the Nederburg Wine Estate in Paarl on 27 July at 5pm.

The youngest musician ever to be invited to play a solo recital at Nederburg, Roelof will present a programme to satisfy all lovers of classical piano music. The first half of the concert will include works by the great composers, Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Liszt and Ravel. After interval, it will be an all Russian affair with dazzling and powerful pieces by renowned masters, Moszkowski, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev.

At the age of 17, Roelof is no stranger to the concert stages of South Africa. As a member of a prominent musical family, he has already won many awards for young musicians in South Africa, apart from being a top achiever at school as well. Earlier this year he walked away with the First Prize, as well as all special prizes, at the prestigious Hennie Joubert Piano Competition.

Roelof studies the piano with his mother, well-known organist and pianist, Zorada Temmingh, and has attended master classes by amongst others, Roberto Plano, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Vadim Monastyrski and Anton Nel.
