Celebrating its 10th anniversary season, this May at the Hudson Guild Theatre (441 West 26th Street), the White Horse Theater Company is presenting an exciting new production of Marsha Norman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play 'night, Mother starring Broadway veteran Joy Franz as Thelma, with Laura Siner playing daughter Jessie (who previously starred in White Horse's acclaimed In The Bar of a Tokyo Hotel). The production will run through May 19 and features direction from White Horse's Producing Artistic Director Cyndy A. Marion, who has staged a bold, visually alluring version of the dramatic work, heightening the theatricality and sharpening the focus on Jessie's looming bedroom door. (more...)

Whether he's playing a Westchester housewife who's preparing her cabaret tribute to Edith Piaf, Cinderella's much maligned stepmother in the style of Mildred Pierce, or the tough but warm-hearted owner of a speakeasy, performance legend Charles Busch continues to delight and redefine his craft as a master humorist, illusionist, and camp icon. The author of dozens of hit plays (Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Red Scare on Sunset, Flipping My Wig, Times Square Angel, Our Leading Lady, The Third Story, Die! Mommie! Die!, Psycho Beach Party, The Divine Sister, and Vampire Lesbians of Sodom to name but a few), Busch makes his 54 Below debut for two very special year end performances, joined by Musical Director Tom Judson. Just yesterday, Kids' Night on Broadway kicks off at the immersive and educational Discovery Times Square; where there were unique theatre activities including: Autograph Alley with Broadway performers, a dance workshop with Revolucion Latina, Broadway Karaoke, stage makeup demonstrations, craft activities and much more including a free theatre activity guide. The Broadway Green Alliance also collected plastic bottle caps (plastic and metal) to incorporate in to the set for the new production of Peter and the Starcatcher Off-Broadway. Earlier today, Cinderella stars Ann Harada and Marla Mindelle unveiled the Cindrella Sundae at Serendipity3 (225 East 60th St). The treat is a life-sized 'glass slipper' made of glittering white chocolate filled with 3 wickedly big scoops of ice cream covered in chocolate and caramel sauce for dreamers and ice creamers of all ages. It's topped off with a delightfully romantic cloud of whipped cream and beautifully colored rock candy that is the finest in all of the kingdom, candy pearls and a life-sized tiara and a Cinderella Mirror Compact complete the royal treatment for the sundae based on the musical that's impossible to resist.
