Lily Tomlin, Joanne Worley, Carole Cook, Bruce Vilanch along with filmmaker and multi TONY-winning Director and Producer, Dori Berinstein all gathered on one stage to salute a star, an icon and a legend - Ms. Carol Channing. On Wednesday night, the Paley Center featured these incredible talents as well as gathering many more in the audience for the Los Angeles premiere screening of 'Carol Channing: Larger Than Life.' The panel members, who also appear in the critically acclaimed documentary, gathered with other friends, colleagues and fans of the woman who has been dubbed, and deservingly so, 'The First Lady of Musical Theatre.' Seen among those in attendance were a who's who of TONY, OSCAR, EMMY & GOLDEN GLOBE award winners including George Chakiris, Charles Fox, Davis Gaines, Ilene Graff, Tippi Hedren, Michael Learned, Kate Linder, Julie Newmar, Connie Stevens, Ruta Lee, Rose Marie, Richard Skipper, Barbara Van Orden, Dee Wallace and co-producer, B. Harlan Boll, to enjoy a film that also featured such noted industry greats as Loni Anderson, Marge Champion, Tyne Daly, Jerry Herman, Angela Lansbury, Bob Mackie, Margaret O'Brien, Debbie Reynolds, Chita Rivera, Tommy Tune, Barbara Walters and many more. Broadway's Carol Channing was featured at this year's Tribeca Film Festival in the world premiere of a docuentary titled 'Carol Channing: Larger Than Life.' The film was directed by Dori Berinstein and written by Dori Berinstein and Adam Zucker. The film was received by the audience with great enthusiasm. At the end of the screening there was a Q&A with Dori Berinstein, the film's director, Carol Channing, her husband Harry Kullijian, producer B. Harlan Boll, and others involved in the project. Following the on-campus run, the troupe will bring their production to schools in the region, including Arthur L. At Jim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland on Monday night, there was an on-and-off-stage celebration for the late, great Kay Thompson's 100th birthday. The event was built around a new 3-CD box set collection called "Think Pink! A Kay Thompson Party." Friends and fans of the former MGM vocal coach/nightclub singer/"Eloise" author gathered to sing her songs and praises at the weekly open mic. (more...)

On the opening night Tues, June 23rd, in Nashville, Mrs. Betty Witherspoon, mother of actress Reese Witherspoon who created the role in the film version of LEGALLY BLONDE, came to the show and presented Laura with flowers during the curtain call.
