Birdland presents the return of Karen Mason, who stormed the stage with her legendary Christmas show on December 19. “Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!” showcases Karen’s unique interpretations of old and new holiday classics, including a slinky arrangement of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” a heartfelt “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” and many more.  The show featured direction by Barry Kleinbort, with musical direction by Christopher Denny on piano and Tom Hubbard on bass.

Vineyard Theatre's Artistic Directors, Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern, release rehearsal photos before previews begin tomorrow, Friday, May 4 for the the world-premiere of THE BEAST IN THE JUNGLE. This original dance play by legendary composer and four-time Tony Award winner John Kander (CABARET, CHICAGO), Tony-nominated playwright David Thompson (STEEL PIER; FLORA, THE RED MENACE), and five-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman (THE PRODUCERS, CONTACT) will open on Wednesday, May 23 and play through Sunday, June 17.

Signature Theatre presents Elmer Gantry, a musical version of Sinclair Lewis' best-selling novel, directed by Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). Schaeffer collaborated on the last production of Elmer Gantry at Marriott's Lincolnshire Theatre in Chicago with authors John Bishop (book), Mel Marvin (music) and Bob Satuloff (lyrics) in 1998; the show has not been produced since then. This will be the 5th production in the show's history. Running in the MAX Theatre October 7 - November 9, Signature's production will include several brand new songs by Mel Marvin and Bob Satuloff and a reimagined script that John Bishop worked on until his death in 2006. It was an early morning for fans of Olivier nominated stage star John Barrowman today in the U.K. Beginning at 7.45am, fans braved the cold to start the queue at Dress Circle to have their copies of Barrowman's new autobiography 'I Am What I Am' signed by the star. By 11.00am the queue was over 200 and snaking around the block. Despite the grey day, reportedly a good time was had by all.

Two-time Tony Award-winning actress Judith Ivey portrays that great woman of American letters -- letters from readers seeking advice, that is -- when she plays the legendary, trailblazing columnist Ann Landers in David Rambo's play THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS Off-Broadway this fall, which started performances October 7, 2009 at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in New York City. B.J. Jones directs. The production will run through November 29. Opening night is scheduled for October 14.
