Just yesterday, Kids' Night on Broadway kicks off at the immersive and educational Discovery Times Square; where there were unique theatre activities including: Autograph Alley with Broadway performers, a dance workshop with Revolucion Latina, Broadway Karaoke, stage makeup demonstrations, craft activities and much more including a free theatre activity guide. The Broadway Green Alliance also collected plastic bottle caps (plastic and metal) to incorporate in to the set for the new production of Peter and the Starcatcher Off-Broadway. Yesterday, January 31, the eve of the 10(th) National Wear Red Day, Go Red For Womenis hosting a lighting ceremony at Macy's Herald Square in New York City - the first iconic building to turn red. Macy's is a founding national sponsor of Go Red For Women and has raised $40 million to support the cause since 2004. Star Jones, the American Heart Association's national volunteer, invited New Yorkers to kick off National Wear Red Day at Macy's with some of Broadway's hottest talents includingJudy Kaye from Nice Work If You Can Get It and performances from Motown's Valisia LeKae andthe cast of STOMP! STOMP, the international sensation, is making its triumphant return to The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. STOMP is part of the Broadway in Miami 2012-2013 subscription season presented by Bank of America. The return of the percussive hit also brings some new surprises, with some sections of the show now updated and restructured and the addition of two new full-scale routines, utilizing props like tractor tire inner tubes and paint cans. Amber Riley ("Glee"), Joshua Henry, Jared Grimes and Adriane Lenox star in New York City Center's acclaimed production of Duke Ellington's Cotton Club Parade, returning to City Center for seven performances tonight, November 14th through the 18th, 2012. Conceived by Jack Viertel and presented under the auspices of City Center's Tony Award-winning Encores! series, Cotton Club Parade is once again be directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, with music direction by Jazz at Lincoln Center Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis. Hurricane Sandy Saturday Update: Broadway is Back, Some Off-Broadway Shows Still Delayed, Subway Recovery Underway!

Hurricane Sandy has caused the cancellation of much of New York's theatre over the past few days. All Broadway shows are back up and running, with many offering post-hurricane discounts and special offers. Many of the city's off-Broadway and off-off Broadway theatres are still struggling. Hollywood actors joined forces to participate in this one-night-only live performance, produced by Kevin Chinoy and Francesca Silvestri of the Freestyle Picture Company and the 24 Hour Company. With Duke Ellington's music as the centerpiece, Cotton Club Parade reimagines one of the composer's Cotton Club floor shows. Ellington and his orchestra began a four-year residency at the Club in 1927 and continued making guest appearances throughout the 1930s. Legendary performers such as the Nicholas Brothers, Bessie Smith, Ethel Waters, Snake Hips Tucker, Peg Leg Bates and a 16-year old Lena Horne all performed at the Club. (more...)

Photo Coverage: Opening Night of LOVE LIES BLEEDING

Love Lies Bleeding is an all new ballet based on the music of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, and it opened last night at Toronto's Sony Centre for the Performing Arts. After a critically acclaimed run at the Alberta Ballet, the production comes to Toronto for a limited engagement thanks to David Mirvish who is presenting it in the city for the rest of the week.
