The Mac-Haydn Theatre (MHT), after a successful run of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, continues its 49th season with the 2004 musical comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Based off of the 1988 movie of the same name, the 10-time Tony nominated musical by David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane will be a MHT premiere.

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.

The New Group presents the first production in its 2012-2013 season, the world premiere of The Good Mother, a new play by Francine Volpe. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production features Mark Blum, Darren Goldstein, Gretchen Mol, Alfredo Narciso and Eric Nelsen. Previews began October 31 in advance of an Official Opening Night tomorrow, November 15 at 7:00pm. The limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated through December 22 at The New Group @ Theatre Row (The Acorn Theatre / 410 West 42nd Street / Acorn Theatre). The New Group and Tectonic Theater Project proudly present One Arm, set to play May 19 - July 2 in a limited Off-Broadway engagement marking a New York premiere. Based on a short story and unproduced screenplay by Tennessee Williams, One Arm is adapted for the stage and directed by Moisés Kaufman. Official Opening Night is slated for Thursday, June 9 at 7:00 PM at The New Group @ Theatre Row.

Freddie Company in association with TKO Entertainment proudly presents the U.S. Premiere of the Japanese musical Freddie the Leaf, written and directed by Takashi Inuishi, conceived by Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara, with music and lyrics by Shoichi Tama and starring popular Japanese film actor, Akira Takarada, and a cast of 21 Japanese teens and children. Freddie the Leaf runs from August 13 - 15, 2010 in a limited engagement at John Jay College's Gerald W. Lynch Theater, located at 899 Tenth Avenue, between 58 and 59 Streets, in NYC.

The New Group proudly presents Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind directed by Ethan Hawke as the second production in its 2009-2010 season.

The dynamic combination of beloved humorist David Sedaris with one of Portland's favorite performers Wade McCollum has lead to an unprecedented decision from Portland Center Stage: with most performances sold out two weeks before opening night, The Santaland Diaries will be extended through January 2nd, 2010.

The New Group proudly presents Eugene O'Neill's epic drama Mourning Becomes Electra as the second production in its 2008-2009 season. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production is playing a limited Off-Broadway run January 27 - April 18th, 2009. The classic drama had an Official Opening Night on Thursday, February 19th and BroadwayWorld was there as the cast celebrated at the starry after party!
