How do you tell that your play is a success? Not so easy if it’s a drama; you might detect a little silent sobbing. But with a comedy? That roar of laughter is a sure sign you’ve got a hit! Well, the folks at the Clayton Community Theatre have a hit on their hands with their production of Michael Frayn’s madcap farce, Noises Off.
We as an audience are invited into these and other questions. Most important of all those questions remains, though: What about us is not real, and what about is THE REAL THING?
What did our critic think of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Porthouse Theatre--KSU School Of Theatre And Dance?
Getting on the phone with Albert Poland totally swept me away and into the world we love for a glorious 45 minutes...
I cannot even think of enough accolades to share about the current production being staged by Greenway Arts Alliance (Whitney Weston and Pierson Blaetz, Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors) at the Greenway Court Theatre (544 N. Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles) through December 9. The totally entertaining and artistically brilliant production, directed and choreographed by NAACP Theater Award-winner Jeffrey Polk, pulled me in from the moment it started until the end, given the amazingly talented cast who bring the characters so realistically to life that you can actually feel all the emotions each is going through from moment to moment. You will laugh, be fearful, cry and celebrate with all of them by the time the show ends.

In the wake of recent #MeToo headline events redefining gender roles (particularly for women) and issues of consent, PIZZA MAN by Darlene Craviotto, which debuted in 1982, seems timelier than ever. While statistics are only quoted once in the play with Newsweek saying 'a rape is committed every 7 seconds,' the United States Department of Justice research claims about 20 million out of 112 million women (18.0%) in the United States have been raped during their lifetime, with only 16% of all rapes reported to law enforcement. No doubt these rapes were committed almost exclusively by men. But is it possible for a woman to rape a man? Such is the question asked during PIZZA MAN.
